Collecting cookbooks has been a passion of mine for years. I have just about every old Watkins cookbook that was published.
My favorite are the ones that came right from the kitchen of my grandmother, where stained pages bookmark all the family favoites! To this day I still use a few favorite recipes that Gram and I would make on her old wood cookstove.
Betty Crocker cookbooks from the 70's hold some of the best recipes. Many are carried through to other years, but for some reason I keep going back to one published in the 70's. Perhaps it is because I know it front to back and just haven't taken the time to get to know the rest as well. My original has already been passed down to my oldest daughter. I had to find a replacement just so I could get the 'Montego Bay Brownie Recipe'. You will not find a better crowd pleaser then this good old standard recipe for brownies. Chewy, chewy, chewy!
So, if your not in the mood for a persian rug today, take a gander at the old collectible cookbooks and grab them while they are available.
Cookbooks are a hot ticket item for collectors and when you pick the right ones, they only go up in value....not down!
Enjoy the collecting
