Mechanical Toys
Mechanical toys are a fascination for young and old alike. Wind them up or drop a penny in them and they move, walk, or play music. Some of the most favored are the cast iron mechanical toys. The old tin and hand painted are quite valuable and becoming more rare to find in working condition.
The tinplate wind up toys with their over-sized features and thin pieces of tin for arms that move, once wound up sell very high. A common seller was the figural mechanical toys with bigger heads and arms that always seemed to small for the body. The mechanical toy figures from the thirties, in relatively good condition will market for around $1500 each. They normally get a lot more expensive when from the older eras, and if in good condition. Those in fair condition still market quite well if they are antique.
While we try very hard to only bring out the true antiques, there are many wonderful old mechanical toys, which are highly collectible, but not a true antique. Do not neglect them as they are fun to own too.
