Black American Collectibles
It has been quite a few years since I started collecting the Black Americana memorabilia. Some I have passed on to my children and others I have been very careful to keep in my own collection. My antique cast iron bank is probably my favorite piece, and is always out waiting to be fed. This is a very diverse category, but there really is not one genuine antique or primitive collectible in this category that isn't worth money. My bank alone, that I gave $3 for is now worth over $125.
I would like to warn you to ask sellers for accurate dates. If they do not have a date published for the item, it does not mean is isn't old. Many sellers do not know how to date antiques, or that it even is an antique. On the flip side of that senario is that some sellers are buying up replica products and trying to pass them off as collectibles. If the product doesn't have a date published it is often smartest to leave it unless you know your antiques and recognize it as old.
If you do not care if it is truly old or not, then you are in for a whirlwind ride trying to decide which items to add to your collection. There are tons of terrific pieces resurfacing that any collector is going to want.
